UPDATED INFORMATION: Postal Service Price Change Approved


 USPS Exception Process for the May 31, 2015 Price Change

 For ConnectShip customers who may not be able to update their shipping systems before the May 31 deadline, USPS has provided the following options for obtaining temporary exceptions:

  • Postage Statement Exception

    If your company will be able to update USPS prices but cannot update either the postage statements or manifest you should complete a request for exception on your company letterhead and present this at the BMEU along with your first mailing after the price change. This letter should explain the issue, the steps being taken to resolve the issue and the expected resolution date. The local BMEU has the paperwork necessary to process an exception valid until June 30, 2015. An exception past June 30 will require additional approvals from the Pricing and Classification Service Center.

  • Pricing Exception

    Exceptions to 2015 pricing are not available; however, if your company cannot implement pricing changes, a process exists to apply 2015 prices at the BMEU. To request this process your company should complete a request for exception on your company letterhead and present this at the BMEU along with your first mailing after the price change. This letter should explain the issue, the steps being taken to resolve the issue and the expected resolution date. This exception request may be combined with the postage statement request into a single letter. Please note that incorrect postage may complicate mail entry for your company and as such resolution of any pricing issues should be a top priority. To expedite processing of this request, a scanned image of the letter may also be sent by email to Tom.A.Medlock@usps.gov.

    The Postal Regulatory Commission has approved the latest USPS price change request. The new pricing and classification changes for all market-dominant mail classes and competitive products take effect on May 31, 2015. ConnectShip is currently working with USPS to obtain the final business rules and complete the required coding changes. Based on the current schedule, we anticipate the price change software update will be posted the week of 5/25.
