It’s been another busy quarter at ConnectShip. In this edition, we are excited to unveil our new ConnectShip+ partner program and a new carrier component, and introduce you to our Summer interns and new employees!

Industry Events

Pitney Bowes Retail Revolution
In April, ConnectShip’s Jim Clifford and Miranda Gerken had the opportunity to represent ConnectShip in a three day digital commerce thought leadership event, Retail (R)Evolution, hosted by our partner Pitney Bowes. The event enabled a look at the world of logistics through the lens of technology . Our ConnectShip team was able to participate in this experience, which was centered around leveraging cutting edge applications like robotics, 3D Printing, and AI, to help retailers evolve and counter rising labor / logistics costs.

Crowd-Sourced Delivery Solving the Last Mile Problem
Today’s suppliers are facing an ongoing challenge that is only rising with customer expectations of delivery – The Last Mile Problem. The last mile refers the final leg of delivery as a shipment leaves the local warehouse or distribution center and ends up safely in the customer’s hands.

Sustainability in the Supply Chain
In the age of zero waste, it is more crucial than ever that companies focus on sustainability in order to retain current customers and attract new ones. Unfortunately, cutting out plastic straws and recycling in the office are no longer going to meet customer expectations. Customers are now expecting a company’s entire supply chain to not only to be eco-friendly, but to explain exactly how they are sustainable as well.

What’s Trending in the Trends
With a nod to Punxsutawney Phil – and Bill Murray, for that matter – I consulted some of my trusted supply chain industry sources to see what they predicted would be of significance in 2019. I wanted to see if there were any predictions that emerged across multiple sources or any crossover that would help me identify the trends I wanted to follow throughout the year. I wanted to see who could really say, “I told you so” next January.

The Global Parcel Tsunami – Staying Ahead of the Wave
In a panel discussion earlier this quarter, industry experts weighed in on global parcel shipping trends and gave focused advice on how to surf the tsunami wave and avoid being crushed beneath it. The short answer to stay afloat? Technology.
