UPS assesses a special charge, the "Additional Handling Charge", for any package that requires special handling.

Effective June 6, 2016, the UPS criteria for packages that will require an Additional Handling Charge has been expanded to include any package with the longest side exceeding 48 inches (122 centimeters) instead of the previous 60 inches (152 centimeters). Only US Origin shipments are affected by this UPS update.

This change will affect the following shipment types:

• UPS Ground (US50 to US50 and US50 to PR)
• UPS Hundredweight Service® Ground (US50 to US50 and US50 to PR)
• UPS Ground with Freight Pricing (US48 to US48).

ConnectShip will provide an update for the version 6.5 UPS Consolidated Component.
The update will be available for you to download by the end of day Friday, May 20th, 2016.
The updated code will be date-activated to become effective June 6, 2016.
