Important Update for UPS Customers:
New Digital Certificate for UPS Shippers Using UPSLink

March 16, 2018

In order to maintain secure communications between customer shipping systems and UPS, and due to mandates by the UPS digital certificate vendor, UPS will begin utilizing Comodo as its digital certificate for all customers.

This notification is for UPS customers that use UPSlink to transmit their Package Level Detail (PLD) to UPS.

UPS will begin their migration to Comodo on UPS UPSlink servers on July 23, 2018 and will complete their migration by August 31, 2018.

After August 31, 2018, some shippers may be unable to upload PLD files via UPSlink. Quantum View Data, Quantum View Manage and UPS My Choice may also be impacted by this UPS update.

Shippers that may experience problems are those that may be:

  • using an old version of Windows that does not support the new security certificates
  • using a UPS version of UPSlink which was supplied with our legacy UPS components prior to April 1, 2010
  • using unsupported ConnectShip legacy UPS regional components
  • delinquent on their SUS and unable to update

The inability to upload UPSlink PLD electronically will require manual entry of PLD by UPS operations, which may increase time in transit and shippers may experience closed loop billing instead of scan based billing, which may affect billing accuracy.

All shippers are encouraged to update to the most current versions of ConnectShip software and also to keep their operating systems up-to-date.

If you have questions about security certificates, please discuss them with your IT department. To download the Comodo certificates specifically, please visit this link: https://support.comodo.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/969/108/root-comodo-rsa-certification-authority-sha-2%20
